Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Communications Dispatch Supervisor for Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD). Reporting to the Director of Public Safety Communications, this position will be responsible for supervising the day to day operations of the Universitys Shared Services Public Safety Communications Center.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Primarily, the position services to organize and supervise the work of public safety telecommunicators and other personnel engaged in computer-aided dispatch for police, fire, and other services on a 24-hour basis
Maintain records; and to perform related work as required.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelors degree preferably in Criminal Justice or related field, or a comparable combination of education and/or experience that demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of communications principles and practices.
At least two (2) years of 9-1-1 telecommunications experience in a moderately busy shared services call center.
Certifications/Licenses
Must be certified in Basic Telecommunicator Officer and Emergency Medical Dispatch
The Preferred Qualifications should include:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within a college or university setting a plus. Knowledge of Rutgers University, including policies and procedures is a plus.
Prefers at least five (5) years of 9-1-1 telecommunications experience in a moderately busy shared services call center.
