Inventory and general accounting including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the Accounting Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory
Process monthly inventory activity into general ledger such as inventory receipts, bills of material, other inventory stockroom transactions, finished goods and RMA transactions.
Perform monthly physical inventory with warehouse staff and reconcile to books.
Reconcile and maintain all inventory balance sheet and P&L accounts.
Prepare month-end inventory reports for management.
Assist with implementing and maintaining internal inventory controls and procedures.
General Accounting
Prepare and file monthly state sales tax returns.
Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process.
Assist Accounting Manager with any other balance sheet matters.
Other projects as determined by management.
Required Qualifications
1 to 5 years of experience of general accounting.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems.
Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data.
Technical accounting skills
Proficiency in relevant accounting software (Sage 50/Peachtree preferred)
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to effectively prioritize time sensitive deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
Scheduling and monitoring
Initiative
Ability to work well independently and as part of a high performing team.
Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting
