This position is located in Monmouth Junction, NJ and there will be travel to Philadelphia, PA as needed.
Summary
Reporting directly to Senior Human Resources Manager, the Human Resource Specialist will support multiple facilities. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry. Additionally, the Human Resource Specialist will ensure all employee and labor relations practices are adhered to in accordance with company policy, collective bargaining agreement, and federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with basic knowledge of federal and state, anti-discrimination, health & safety and other relevant laws and regulations.
Provides customer service by responding to employee and manager inquiries.
Produces documents in support of litigation, arbitration, and unemployment hearings.
Maintains electronic employee and investigation files.
Conducts audits of HR programs/compliance and recommends corrective action.
Maintains HRIS (Human Resource Information System) records and compiles reports from database.
Handles location health and welfare inquiries and communications, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
Acts as initial contact for all labor and employee relations matters and initiates investigations as directed.
Contribute to process improvement.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Travel as needed throughout the Tri-State Area.
Education and Preferred Experience
Bachelor's degree or at least 2 + years related field and/or equivalent experience required.
SHRM-CP credential a plus.
Union experience or fundamental knowledge of unions preferred.
