Overview:

Responsibilities:
Schedules hospital outpatient tests and appointments for physician practices within multiple scheduling systems. Pre-registers all patients when applicable information is obtainable. Obtains and advises patients of all necessary pre-certification, referral, and co-pay requirements for financial reimbursement.
Collaborates with hospital departments and physician practices to schedule outpatient tests and physician appointments while negotiating appropriate date and time according to department and practice protocols.
Acts as a resource for health access and patient schedulers.
Functions as a super user for all computer applications pertinent to multiple scheduling systems.
Conducts training of new employees in multiple scheduling systems.
Acts as a liaison for hospital departments and physician practices.
Ensures that all appropriate staff, patients, departments, and physician practices are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.
Attends monthly educational sessions with hospital departments and physician practices.
Adheres to Capital Health policies as well as interdepartmental policies and procedures.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalency.
Three years of departmental/scheduling experience
Strong customer service skills. Strong insurance and precertification knowledge.
Basic medical terminology.
Demonstrates proficiency of all insurance requirements for outpatient tests and physician appointments.

Frequent physical demands include: Sitting
Occasional physical demands include: Standing , Walking , Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders) , Carry objects , Push/Pull , Twisting , Bending , Reaching forward , Reaching overhead , Squat/kneel/crawl
Continuous physical demands include: Wrist position deviation , Pinching/fine motor activities , Keyboard use/repetitive motion , Talk or Hear
Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.
