For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B. The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth.The Monmouth Vicinage is seeking a well-organized secretary to work in a fast-paced environment under the general direction of a Superior Court Judge in the Family Division, Criminal or Civil Divisions. The selected individual needs strong technical and administrative skills, as well as attention-to-detail and exceptional organization skills to support the judge. Duties include, but are not limited to: conforming judge's orders and maintaining the workflow in/out of judicial chambers; communicating the judge's schedule with division administration and case management personnel; preparation and submission of local and state reports; management of incoming and outgoing communications, including mail, telephone, case conference calls and follow-up of same; procuring supplies and equipment and inventory for chambers, and any additional duties as required and assigned. Strong computer skills needed for information processing using Judiciary-wide computer systems. Other duties include formatting and typing jury instructions, charges, judicial opinions and other legal documents; composing routine correspondence, such as form letters or standard replies to inquiries; composing non-routine correspondence; answering inquiries from the public; editing letters, documents or articles; filing records, and serving as liaison between the judge and the case management and operating divisions.

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
