DEFINITION:
Under direction of the Clerk to the Board, acts as a secretarial aide to the Commissioners performing complex and responsible Clerical and Administrative work of a varied nature requiring thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the office; in addition, may assign and supervise work of interns in the office as directed by the Clerk; does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Front line support for all guests, callers and basic constituent inquiries to the Board of County Commissioners office.
Reviews, sorts and routes incoming correspondence and personally prepares letters on routine matters for review by the Clerk of the Board and Commissioner Director.
Sees that pertinent material is obtained from files and other sources, arranges it in usage form, and prepares memoranda and summaries as required.
Acts to relieve the official of detail by providing routine information to those requesting it including the Clerk of the Board, Commissioners and County Departments.
Maintains a schedule of appointments and the daily engagement calendar of the Board of County Commissioners.
Prepares meeting agenda under the direction of the Clerk of the Board and puts into official form the minutes of the meetings.
Under the direction of the Clerk of the Board assists with making arrangements for speaking engagements, travel arrangements, hearings, conferences, and meetings.
Assembles basic statistical information and obtains needed materials as directed for reports, memoranda, and speeches.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Maintains mailing lists in current condition.
Maintains filing system.
REQUIREMENTS:
Modified hours will be required on the first and third Tuesday of each month to staff the annual Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioner meetings. Additional meetings beyond the first and third Tuesday of the month may be required.
EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years of experience in senior level department support.
Associates degree or equivalent required but a Bachelors degree is preferred.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of office methods, practices, and equipment.
A proven commitment to a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to perform highly complex Clerical and Administrative tasks.
Ability to supervise the establishment and maintenance of records and files.
Ability to comprehend complex office procedures, rules and regulations.
Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
Strong writing skills including knowledge about basic letter formatting, proper use of grammar and punctuation.
