Receptionist:
Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, setting up new clients
and patients, preparation and maintenance of medical records, admitting and discharging patients,
filling some prescriptions, over the counter sales, mailings, computer operation, financial transactions,
filing, and front office and reception area maintenance. Receptionists will assume the responsibility
for acquiring the medical and legal information necessary for the performance of their duties.

Other duties:
1. Make a good first impression on clients, smile, be professional. Set a positive tone
2. Maintain a professional appearance (clothes and attitude)
3. Greet clients and pets warmly
4. Be professional, ethical, and friendly at all times, even if clients are being difficult
5. Answer phones, send faxes, get/sort/deliver mail to addressee
6. Make all appointment and then confirm them the day prior or as needed via phone
7. Remind owners to fast patients prior to surgery
8. Contact No-Show appointments to reschedule
9. Promote the practice by attending events, word of mouth, business cards
10.If clients are waiting for an extended period of time, offer refreshments, magazines, or other
things to make client more comfortable
11.Enter all data into computer for clients as we are a paperless office; scan faxes, paper forms,
etc. into computer
12.Serve as initial source of information to clients
13.Mail or e-mail, brochures and other information to prospective clients
14.Understand vaccinations, basic lab tests, common diseases, and pet behavior
15.Know how to use computer software
16.Take payment for services and enter into record
17.Perform day end closeout
18.Assist clients as necessary to make their visits easier. Whenever possible, identify and prepare
for clients/patients with special needs and make arrangements to assist.
19.Move stressed patients or clients into assigned exam room or quiet room.
20.Carry food to cars of clients who are unable to do so
21.Setup new client records
22.Setup/verify accuracy of invoices
23.Maintain cleanliness of the front of the hospital
24.Assist in maintenance of outside of hospital
